Life Lately: Books, Seeds, Art Club, and Renovations

If I've repeated anything on my blog it's probably: Time flies, or life moves quickly. Weekends move quicker than week days but, then I look back at the week and feel like it flew by. For so many reasons, including: that I haven't made much time for writing lately, I am summing up this update with a few of the joys we have had lately. I think it's important to find joy as you're speeding through the day. So here's ours:

I finished two books last week. One was a major accomplishment because one: it was an assignment for work and two: I started it in December. I learned some things, but mostly I am proud that I stuck with it and completed it. It was a big read for me. We planted our seed (starters) for our garden. We as in all three of us and E's friend. It was important to me to include the girls in the process so that they can experience growing their own food start to finish. 

I am excited about tomatoes, red peppers (for Edee) and cucumbers but I am very excited about the salad mix we planted. Within 2 days we saw sprouts. On day 3 we say purple sprouts! That was a pleasant surprise. My main goal is to grow everything to make a salad. It's going to be such a delicious goal to achieve. 

E joined an Art club! Talk about cool! I can't wait to see what she learns. I pray she enjoys it and find friends with similar interests. I am so happy for this quick development. I should've signed myself up.

 *Update* She found her people. I picked her up from Art club yesterday and she said, "I had the best day ever!" She exchanged phone numbers with two kids and said they couldn't stop talking about all the things. 

Our bedroom renovation project is underway. Ryan has been up to his elbows in planning for it. We're converting our garage into a master bedroom. Currently we're sleeping in the smallest room that will eventually be an art studio. As we work through the process of the renovation my goal is to remember how much we hoped and dreamed and planned to be where we are now. I remind us both that this is all supposed to be fun. We get to choose paint colors, carpet and lighting. We get to choose and make our dreams real life. 

Well, there it is. books, seeds, art club and renovations. I can't wait to see where each of these things leads because you know, there's so much transformation happening in these joyful things.

Quiet and Satisfying Sunday

Morning drinks with my little lady. 

A very quiet, yet satisfying weekend is coming to a close. After a very eventful week at home and work I am content with our simple weekend. House chores, crafts and play time were enough for me.

Yesterday, I was able to make and sell a couple more winter headbands. I'm enjoying this hobby and hope to continue doing more. It is a quick, crochet project that yields something useful. And considering winter is not over yet I should stay busy with these handmade pretties. (Please, don't hesitate to request one.)

I was rather excited when M brought over homework to do. She said, "You are creative and it says on the directions to Be Creative." She is such a sweetheart. And smart too! Not being a part of M's schooling has always been hard for me. I love learning. So I was happy she wanted me help this time. Together we made a fictional poster to advertise a dog sled race. She even drew mountains, paw prints, the sled and a husky. Alls she needed was a little bit of couching. She was very proud of her work. That's all I could ask for.

Today, we took a little field trip to the library. I must say, our town has a beautiful library. I could and should spend more time here. We finally got a library card today, (how we didn't have one yet is beyond me) so I can see many more visits ahead. I picked up a few writing books. I can't wait to dive into the pages. M got a book about soccer and E got the eensy weeny spider. R found a couple books that should lend a hand at work. I was happy Aunt Kacey joined us too. We loved our trip to the library.

Overall a really great weekend.

Maybe it's motivation block.

I'm having a difficult time writing as of recently. Actually, I'm having a difficult time doing anything lately. Even wedding to-dos. I'm blaming this lack of motivation on my health. Which, could be very true. It's not that I'm not excited or uninterested either. I'm just...just bla. 


All though, I'm happy to report I am feeling much better. Thanks to antibiotics. And I have been doing other things. Spending time with Ryan and Maddi, going on bike rides and fun stuff like that.
Instead of writing I've also been reading. As much as I can. Which isn't much but anything is better than nothing. While in search of other relationship based blogs I came across Alisa Bowman's blog Project Happily Ever After. If you have a free minute read her story! It's just fabulous. She's given me true inspiration. So as soon as that motivation shows it's face again I know there is something in what I am trying to accomplish. 
I've also been reading books (which, I don't do often). Well, one book in particular. I chose, How to Become a Famous Writer Before You're Dead by Ariel Gore, because it's uppity and fun! I mean read the title. 


I have this strong desire to move forward. I think it's always been there. I don't want to waste my time being obsessed with grey's anatomy (yes I'm currently watching the series) and sit on the couch letting mindless activities consume half my day. I do realize sometimes these things are okay and sometimes a person just needs a rest. But there is progress to be made, that needs to be made. 


As I seek out the motivation that I feel I have lost I am going to continue to write and read. Therefor, at least I will be learning. And I love learning.
