I don't need a Coach purse.

I was scrolling through my Instagram, like I do so often these days (I'm slightly obsessed), and I found Ellen DeGeneres' most recent photo of a guest on her talk show. I said to R, "I wish I could watch Ellen." He says, "just a couple more months and you can." (Implying that soon enough we can get cable or Dish.) Just plain and simple. Just like that. I love that his goals are focused and in sight. He sure is my rock.

This long, long road to what we imagine to be our better tomorrow, our better future, is tiring. I admit, I am far from perfect and sometimes lose my focus. I get caught up in wanting material things. All those beautiful outfits and spaces I find on Pinterest, going out on the town, taking vacations, going to concerts, are all things I want and wish I had.

Sometimes I think it sucks but mostly I know taking walks, playing at parks with E, watching M's softball games, cuddling on the couch next to my hubby are way more rewarding than a Coach purse or new pair of shoes. Yeah they're cute but these memories we are making are building character and shaping us to be thankful, appreciative individuals. They will always mean more.

I won't even begin to name the people in the world that make it by with much less than we do. I just know that we're really fortunate. Fortunate to have each other and to be healthy.

And ya know what, I can probably just watch Ellen on YouTube anyways.

A holiday/December/Christmas to-do list.

Happy December 1st! Now that the Christmas month is here I feel the need to make my holiday/December/Christmas to-do list!

1. I want to take E sledding with M and R. I don't so much want to spend that much time outside but I really want to see E ride down a snow covered hill with her big sis and Daddy.

2. Family photos. I am way way behind in this department and desperately want family photos taken while E is still little.

3. I WILL send out Christmas cards this year and if I work extra hard at it they will include our family photos!

4. Go on 1 date with R. Dinner at a nice restaurant, good food and wine to accompany a great conversation sounds perfect right about now.

5. I would like to do at least 2 Christmas crafts with M. My Pinterest boards are too full of ideas waiting to be taken advantage of!

6. Watch my FAVORITE Christmas movies: White Christmas, Sound of Music and Miracle on 34th Street. + a couple more.

7. Make Christmas candies; peanut butter balls, chocolate covered pretzels, peppermint bark…

8. Celebrate Christmas with my loves, my parents and siblings, nieces and nephew.

I might add to my list but this morning I think that this list completed would make a pretty darn good December.
