Saturday
After a long shift R slept in a bit. The girls and I spent the morning in the sun. It was a perfect morning for getting the seed starter kit out to plant the seeds we picked up at Home Depot.
The girls were wonderful gardeners as we labeled the little pots, poured soil inside, sprinkled basil, cilantro and cherry tomato seeds into each labeled pot. M dug right into the wet soil. E preferred to keep her hands clean but they both enjoyed looking at the different seeds. M said wild flower seeds look like worms.
We all enjoyed this little project. I can't wait to see E's response when little green sprouts are showing. She checks on them often and says she is "watching them grow." It will be such a treat to have her help picking cherry tomatoes.
We've had an amazing weekend of fun in the sun. Because it's Zach's last days home we took the afternoon and went to Pentwater to spend some time with him before he leaves. Sitting on Grandpa's porch, catching up on the latest before a picnic style dinner was perfect. I'm so happy R could be there too. He even walked the property and talked to Grandpa about plants and trees and his hunting experiences last Fall.
The girls wanted one last bit of fun before we returned to Spring Lake so we stopped by Summit Park to skip stones on the water. I even collected a few to add to my mason jar of flat stones.
