1. We're going to be okay!
Despite how social media, the news and peers make me feel, I know we're going to be okay. COVID-19 a.k.a. the Coronavirus has impacted my mental health more than my physical health; something the news doesn't mention. I've made a few quick changes to my daily routine and find comfort being home as much as I can.
2. I'm taking a social media break.
All though, my social media news feed and peers have shifted from talking about the negative impact of this virus to "Just stay calm," "Stop hoarding toilet paper," I have had more than my fill of SM for awhile. It's still just a little too much. We're reading more, playing games, crafting and enjoying conversation with each other (which I prefer, anyways).
3. My family and friends are safe & healthy.
I've been counting my blessing for a few days now. Not only because the media makes you feel like this virus is a zombie apocalypse and we're all GOING TO DIE but because it feels normal to count my blessing and helps me stay grounded, as well.
Now..
I'm moving onward and upward. I am inspired to write and document recently. Maybe it's partially due to the chaos in the world or the increase in motivational books I listen too but mostly because one of the most rewarding things I've found in my journey of blogging and social media-ing is that I can look back at years past, things I did, moments I shared with my family. It fills my heart with happiness to look back. So, I'm documenting the big stuff and the small stuff too.
4. I just started reading my 4th book this year.
This is huge for me. In 2019 I read 3 books total. Reading a hard copy book is not something that comes easy to me and for years I struggled with the idea that I don't read books. It takes me months to get from cover to cover, always re-reading the words several times because my mind tends to wander off the page. Once I was introduced to audio books my "shelf" become very full of must-reads. I love listening on my morning commute, while crocheting or running errands. I'm excited to see what book number 4 has in store.
5. Pokemon, Sonic and Mine Craft
Do I have a tom-boy on my hands? Edee's love for Pokemon; Pikachu specifically, Sonic the Hedgehog and Mine Craft is undeniably cute! She loves what she loves! She's still a huge fan of kitties, unicorns and mermaids but with the recently released Sonic movie our girl has a new love. She even races to do everything, super fast, just like Sonic. Her and Daddy play Mine Craft together, cuddled up on the couch or in bed as they build whatever their imagination can think up.
6. I want to try new things
We made our own salad dressing from ingredients we had in the cupboards. It's no less than delicious! We started an indoor potted garden with lavender, cherry tomatoes, strawberries and aloe. We are excited to grow live plants! Fingers crossed they turn out. We plan to make protein balls for snacking, a new recipe we've never tried. I am sure we'll think of a few more things before this quarantine ends.
7. Good things are happening
I am brought to tears as I see how people are inspired in these crazy times; from teachers to bosses, celebrities to makers. People are doing incredible things to stay connected, show support, bring a smile to peoples faces. Every day is something new. I believe the world is becoming better through this time.
Keep loving,
Karlee
