Well, I'm back on the path to organizational bliss. My new mind set of: accomplish atleast one task a day, has my motivational bones moving again. I'm more motivated than I've been in hmm...about 4 months.
I feel as an individual I am a rather organized person. I remember my room in my parent's house when I was growing up. Everything had a place. I kept my bed made (most of the time) and had shelves and drawers for books, crafts, make up, jewelry, etc. And I HAD to be organized through college, juggling loads of homework, projects and tests while keeping a full time job wasn't the easiest. Being organized helped me manage. Plus, I really enjoy the look of a neat and tidy space.
But.
Yes there is always a but... Sharing a space (and this ones rather small) with someone, sometimes 2 someones, is a completely different story. I'm not saying Ryan isn't organized because his desk at work is pretty darn tidy. But what do I call the person that builds a pile of clean laundry through the week that eventually grows into the mountain of dirty laundry in a bedroom that is already only big enough for a bed?? Definitely not organized.
So, I'm starting one room at a time, one, maybe two tasks a day (if my motivated bones are really moving) and I'm getting our little family organized. I'll eventually work my magic on Ryan's habits as well. ;)
So Monday, I took ALL of Maddi's clothes out of the dresser drawers, folded them, put them in stacks of jeans, leggings, shorts, skirts, tank tops, pajamas, t-shirts and dresses. Then I neatly put them back in the drawers. The best part, wait for it... I made little colorful labels for each drawer so that all 3 of us will be able to find and put away her clothes much easier.
I felt so much better to have something in order. It is a small start but I know it will make a big difference. The big bonus, I realized Maddi actually does have clothes and cute outfits. It was just a matter of finding them.
I almost forgot that last week I sorted through a set of storage drawers full of old college papers, memorabilia, etc. I got rid of a bunch of meaningless sketches and papers. The drawers became a new home for all of my yarn, beads and fabric which had been inconveniently shoved in a tote bag all mangled and tangled.
This also made me super happy!
My philosophy on being organized is that it will save you so much time and energy (and maybe a bad mood) if you know right where that thing is you're looking for that you swear was right where you left it last...
Keep loving.
