Reflecting on the small things

The 4th day of the week will forever be the day I miss E the most. We are almost through the week but it's not quite the weekend we look forward to with great anticipation of spending time together. Thursday's are the hardest days to be away from my little girl.

I left early from an after work get together with my co-workers tonight to hopefully squeeze in a few precious moments with E. And wouldn't you know it, of all nights bedtime came early. She's fast asleep next to me all wrapped up in her fuzzy Minions robe. I don't want to move away from her because a few moments just didn't feel like enough tonight.

Instead I'll stay laying next to her, sneak in a Blog update and reflect on accepting the simple things while I listen to her breathe.

We started our day with a high five. E's first words after half awake mumbles were, "Mama, I didn't pee pee." Which seems backwards to what we were celebrating a year and a half ago. But, when it comes to bed wetting a dry night and not going potty is worth praise and a high five. (Now I realize why kids are confused: go potty, don't go potty. Which is it?)

Another simple thing to celebrate when it comes to my toddler: eating. E ate everything on her plate for lunch today. And preferred real food. AND didn't ask for treats! A word I wish I could pull out of her vocabulary and smash it into itty bitty pieces. Only because it was a begging word and 95% of the time lead to fits. Don't get me wrong, there's a time and place for treats. Today I am so proud of all of us for working together to get rid of the treats. What a huge difference it makes in her eating habits and personality.

I am amazed at how a child can change a perspective of the world. If you watch and listen you'll notice their big personality and all the wonderful things they have to say. They have so much yet to do. Being a parent, the one that can open the door and unlock their future is such an honor. That's why I love celebrating not just the big things but the small things as well. No achievement should go unnoticed.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. E is going to be in the Jingle Bell Parade with her classroom!

Happy 1st of December all!

Keep loving.
